Reporting scam email is fairly pointless unless they broke a specfic law such as an email threat, child pornography sent to you or a link to such. The issue lies in 99% of all of this email comes from spoofed email addresses or accounts that cannot be accurately traced once they connect to offshore countries with little or no regulation.

We all hate spam, scam and other junk email. Rule of thumb unless you know who it came from personnally and want to report it just delete the message and move on. If you do suspect it is something you need to report do not delete the message but contact your local police for more information. They will need to see the orginal email in your inbox so they can extract header and trace information stored in the message. Forwarding can erase the information or make retrieving the information next to impossible.
Reply:Don't send an email to these guys. Basically, doing so will make it worse. For one, they KNOW that you address exists and may sell them on to spammers. Second, by doing so, he thinks he has a hook in you, and will carry on trying.

Sign up, for free, with spamcop.net and send them the email, they can at least report the sercer that sent it to your email providor to stop emails that come from there being sentto your address. Besides that, do nothing Nothing you can do really.
Reply:What I am wondering is: Why did you open the letter in the first place? You should delete all emails that are not from people you know.
Reply:Don't be so prissy and uptight about it. These guys send thousands of those daily (most ending up right in my inbox), so just delete them or go and have fun with 'em! It's amusing to tug them along as they hope they've snagged some moron.
Reply:I'm betting if you send that address anything, it will come up as non existent.
Reply:One important thing to do is never post your personal address to any newsgroup or forum on the internet. There are robot programs that search for addresses. This type of forum is great since they can tell what your interests are. Get a Yahoo email address and use it for non personal mail and forums responses.
