Halifax email: scam or not?

Hi I just got an email from halifax saying something about a statement which is funny as I'm not with halifax. Shoul I presume this email is a scam and if it is how, how the hell did they get my email. Cheeky blitters.

Halifax email: scam or not?
Scam. Ignore all emails from banks etc - they are always phishing emails.
Reply:scam scam scam

delete delete delete
Reply:Yes its a scam. I get about 5 of these a day from random banks I dont have an account with!
Reply:My dear, its scam......
Reply:SCAM - in future don't open, mark it spam and delete.
Reply:scam
Reply:They know ISPs and have a programme that generates names. Its a scam. Do not reply and do not open as their is a risk of downloading a virus.
Reply:Scam, if you are using vista with hotmail report the email via hotmail.
Reply:You not with Halifax but you got an email from them about your account???????? Scam with a capital SCAM. People get your email address from loads of places. Some chat rooms, when you register with some sites you should read the terms and conditions and see that they dont sell you email address onto 3rd parties etc...

Some people just make them up as they go along and hope for the best.

If you recieve emails asking for personal information never ever answer the, unless you know there real, and if in doubt search for the phone number of the company, (not the number inserted in the email) and ring to ask if they sent you a email.

NEVER EVER EVER EVER GIVE OUT YOU PASSWORDS, PIN NUMBERS, PERSONAL INFORMATION. Identity fraud is on the increase.
Reply:scam - my friend in Glasgow is with the Halifax and they took money from his account - the person dealing with it was under investigation at work, they got their money back.
Reply:SCAM, I too get them all the time, I forward them to my bank, under their instruction, without opening them, then DELETE
Reply:Scam i had 1 aswell and i'm not with halifax either went to the link but my mcafee security said its linked to a phising site so i sent them an email back telling them that and not to mess with me lol and i reported the email

Now im worried cos i opened it and replied doing a spyware and registry clean and keep fingers crossed
Reply:Its is a scam, but you have to forward the e-mail to the Halifax BS, in order that they could investigate it further.
Reply:That sounds like a scam to me. Never, ever, open any of those emails, you dont know what they contain!
Reply:please contact the Halifax a.s.a.p
