As has been correctly mentioned it's a scam
The UK connection is usually down to a telephone number eg:
+44 7011 (or maybe 7031) XXXX
This is a 'follow me' geographic number that, if called, will re-direct you to another phone which could be anywhere in the world.
These 'follow me's can be set up quite legitimately from a UK based company (hence the +44) and are used quite extensively by scammers wishing to appear anywhere but where they actually are.
Scammers will ask for any fee to be sent via Western Union as this can be picked up anywhere in the world irrespective of where it is sent to.
All the scammer needs is the transfer number (which you'll give him) and the recipients name (which he'll give to you).
Oh. And a gang member working the 'Westy desk' in his local bank to pay out for a backhander!
There is no papertrail so there's no chance of tracing who actually collected the money
Reply:Don't answer any of them, in fact delete them as soon as possible. I get them all the time. Also I get them from Nigeria and I even got an e-mail from the FBI supposedly that said all was on the up and up. I checked on the real FBI web and found out about these scams. You can also report them if you wish, however they don't investigate every report.

Survey for Yahoo! credibility? scam email?
I got an email from ljd50896. I looked at the profile and the person has no questions or answers shown. They want to interview by person, phone, or email. Apparently it is a University that is doing a research survey. I am not going to reply, although the consent form looks legit. I think that it may be a scam for personal information or such.
Did anyone else get this email?

I can only guess that you have received an email stating you have won a (fake) lottery or other prize. If this is the case, then this is a SCAM. They may ask you to divulge personal information about yourself or ask for your bank or credit card details. Do not divulge any such information under any circumstances. It is surprising how many innocent victims have been duped by these types of emails. Please remember the thieves who send them are very clever and extremely convincing. I suggest you delete the email and send it into cyberspace.

Not sure much can be done. When I have the time and inclination, I act like I am interested in the scam, and just waste the scammers time. Be careful though and remain anonymous.

Is It Rude To Laugh At My Aunt Who Lost $2,000.00 In The Nigerian Email Scam?
Ok my aunt was conned out of $2,000.00 on Yahoo! Mail through one of those notorious Nigerian Email Scams. The only way she even stopped sending money was when the police showed up to her house on suspicions of check fraud.
I wanted to know if it's rude to openly laugh at this story about with my siblings if my mom doesn't bring it up?
My Aunt is a married woman with 4 grown children. How she got caught up in this scam is beyond me.

A Marine wants information such as address, Phone #, copy of ID. He sent me his millitary ID and a copy of his Drivers license. I believe it is a scam. Should I report to local iaw inforcement?

Reply:You should report it to the FBI. They are the agency responsible for this. It is especially important since this email contains a copy of a military member's ID (purportedly anyway). I fully believe this is a scam. However, this could be an actual copy of a real Marine's information which is troubling. By reporting it, you could be protecting the Marine. Please go to the link below and forward the email to the appropriate authorities.
